Description
Gene Expression profiling was used to identify a set of genes that are associated with the progression of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC). These genes, individually or in combination, can be predictive of patient outcome, can be used as follow-up markers after therapy, and can be used as diagnostic biomarkers. They can also be useful in our basic understanding of CRCC development and can give us insight into the functional associations with cell survival, which in turn can lead to novel therapeutic strategies. This invention describes a panel of potential prognostic biomarkers that can separate aggressive from non-aggressive CRCC. This genetic profile may provide additional prognostic information to CRCC prognostic algorithms already in clinical use.
