Genetic Test Predicting Brain Aneurysm Rupture

Reference #:

2005-059

Inventors/Contributors

Gautam V. Khurana, M.D. Fredric B. Meyer, M.D.

Description

Mayo Clinic researchers have developed a novel genetic test that predicts the rupture of brain aneurysm. The invention screens for variations in the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (ENOS) gene, where the presence of certain ENOS gene variations can be used to influence the timing of treatment for persons with unruptured brain aneurysms.
