Molecular Markers for Biological Response to PPARgamma Agonists

Reference #:

2006-149

Inventors/Contributors

John A. Copland III Ph.D., Robert C. Smallridge M.D.

Description

Peroxisomal proliferating activated receptor (PPARgamma) agonists are ligands that bind to PPARgamma, a transcriptional factor that regulates gene expression. Some of these genes and/or protein products can be used as molecular markers to biological response to drug (PPARgamma agonist) treatment. Three biolgoical markers of response to a PPARg agonist, RhoB, p21 and cyclin E, could be measured by IHC in tissues following treatment with a PPARg agonist. These markers would be predictors of response to therapy for PPARgamma agonists as antitumor agents.
