Saphenous Vein Clipping and Injection System for Use in Duplex Guided Extraluminal Endoscopic Saphenofemoral Junction Clipping with Retrograde Foam Sclerotherapy

Reference #:

MMV-05-044

Inventors/Contributors

Clark C. Otley, M.D.

Description

The proposed technology is a simpler and safer method for treating varicose veins of the lower extremities. The device employs endoscopic technology to clip the origin of the saphenous vein shut under duplex ultrasound guidance. Then the distal saphenous vein is obliterated with foam sclerotherapy. This technique offers significant advantages over existing technologies, including lower cost, lower risks, faster treatment time, and less trauma.
