Description

The Myers Specialty Instrument Package, developed for erectile function-preserving neurovascular bundle preservation in open radical retropubic prostatectomy for prostate cancer and radical cystoprostatectomy for bladder cancer, consists of 3 instruments: a) Myers Clamp - Designed to expose the lateral surfaces of the prostate and the anterior edges of the nerve bundles as well as to control the dorsal vein complex. b) Myers Forceps - Designed to facilitate precise dissection of the nerve bundles from the posterolateral aspect of the prostate. Ideal for mobilizing fascia and vascular micropedicles intimately associated with the nerve bundles. Also useful for isolating the main vascular pedicles to the prostate and the fine arteries and veins supplying the seminal vesicles that must be sectioned. c) Myers Scissors - Designed for very precise cutting during the entire operation when angled or curved tip scissors are required. The scissors are particularly useful for incising peri-prostatic fascia above the nerve bundles and isolating micropedicles along the course of the nerve bundles just like the forceps above.
