Description
The Avian Leukosis Virus (AVL) group of retroviruses offers a novel platform for the display of polypeptides and offers novel applications for polypeptide display technology. The ability to display polypeptides on the ALV envelope glycoproteins in a replicating retrovirus with an additional expression cassette presents several unique approaches to use this display platform to probe the interactions and /or co-evolution between a displayed polypeptide and a second protein encoded by an additional gene. Several combinations of the displayed polypeptide(s) and an additional gene(s) can be envisioned:
(1) a library of polypeptides displayed on surface glycoproteins and a single additional gene;
(2) a single displayed polypeptide on surface glycoproteins and a library of additional genes;
(3) both a library of polypeptides displayed on surface glycoproteins and a single additional gene;
(4) a single displayed polypeptide on surface glycoproteins and a library of additional genes; and
(5) both a library of polypeptides displayed on surface glycoproteins and a library of additional genes.
