Purified Rho Family GTP-binding Proteins

Reference #:

MMV-05-014

Inventors/Contributors

Daniel D. Billadeau, Ph.D., Michael Hamann, Ph.D.

Description

Proteins of the Rho family of GTP-binding proteins regulate multiple cellular phenomenon. There are 17 separate genes that encode 18 proteins (one results from an alternatively spliced gene product). We have used a molecular genetic approach to purify all 18 proteins to homogeneity. These proteins can be used in biochemical assays to test their association and activity with upstream activators and downstream target proteins. In addition, these highly-purified proteins can be used to screen for protein-specific antibodies, of which there are very few available.
