Establishment and Characterization of an Immunoglobulin Lambda Secreting Cell Line from AL Amyloidsis

Reference #:

2007-050

Inventors/Contributors

Diane F. Jelinek Ph.D., Mariana Ramirez-Alvarado Ph.D.

Description

The ALMC-1 and ALMC-2 cell lines were established from samples before and after peripheral blood stem cell transplant. Both cell lines secrete lambda light chains and these light chains have been shown to contain a beta structure, which is necessary for the configuration of amyloid. Therefore, this cell line provides a useful tool to study the underlying biology of amloidogenic light chains as well as the cell and molecular biology of malignant plasma cells observed in this rare monoclonal plasma cell disorder.
