TDP-43 Overexpressing Mice: A Transgenic Model of Dementia

Reference #:

2007-119

Inventors/Contributors

Eileen M. McGowan Ph.D., Michael L. Hutton Ph.D.

Description

TDP-43 is a major protein constituent of ubiquitin-positive inclusions in patients with dementia, including frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The mislocalization of TDP-43 from the nucleus to cytoplasmic inclusions in disease states is not well understood. Mice that overexpress human TDP-43 were generated in order to study the effects of this protein on mouse phenotype and neuropathology.
