Techniques to Rate the Validity of Multiple Methods to Process Multi-dimensional Data

Reference #:

2004-027

Inventors/Contributors

Richard A. Robb, Ph.D., Srinivasan Rajagopalan

Description

To accomplish a given computational task, a number of algorithmic and heuristic approaches can be implemented to act upon the given instance of the input data. Depending upon the intrinsic and extrinsic assumptions made regarding the data, algorithm and the task, the end result from each of these approaches could be different. Currently, there does not exist an automatic fast, robust, precise and simple mechanism to rate and sieve the validity of an algorithmic or heuristic implementation for a given instance of the data. Lack of such a mechanism severly hinders the integration of data centric computational tools in mission critical applications. This invention proposes a fast, data and algorithm independent approach to rank the results produced by different computational strategies to accomplish the given task.
