Description

Synthetic peptide with blood pressure lowering and natriuretic actions. Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) has shown therapeutic efficacy in human congestive heart failure (CHF), but its use is limited due to the need to administer it intravenously. Mayo investigators are developing similar compounds for oral administration.
