Description
L- and D-Neo-Tryptophan are unnatural amino acids that could be substituted for L- and D- isomers of the aromatic amino acid residues tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylalanine. Neo-tryptophan-containing peptides may have novel characteristics including:
increased biologic activity
increased resistance to protease
increased blood-brain-barrier permeability
increased receptor binding affinity. Researchers have identified peptides that are therapeutic camdidates for the treatment of schizophrenia and other diseases.
