Description
The aggregates formed by a peptide called amyloid-beta(Abeta) in brain, are widely believed to be the main cause for Alzheimers disease (AD). One of the ways of therapeutic invention is to develop molecules that can specifically stop or restrict Abeta aggregation. Based on this approach, we have designed alpha,beta-dehydroalanine containing peptides that can specifically interact with Abeta to both inhibit aggregation as well as disassembling pre-existing aggregates. Therefore, we propose that the Ala-containing peptides can be very useful tools for developing drugs against AD.
